Week Ten: reflection

In these two chapters, I wanted to develop Alex's feelings for Mark further.

In chapter ten, Alex spends most of the time trying to deny his feelings for Mark, writing them off as something that is unrelated. However, by the end of the night, he is forced to accept that not only does he have feelings for Mark, but that he is in love with him. This causes conflict for the two of them, as Mark doesn't feel the same way about Alex and Alex has to try to accept this.

In chapter eleven, the two of them go on a road trip together to Alex's aunt's bach. During this time, they carry on mostly as normal. Mark's actions seem to indicate something more than friends, but Alex decides to ignore this in favour of trying to suppress his own emotions. In this chapter, I hoped to hint to the readers that Alex might not be seeing the whole picture. It also brings in the topic of Mark graduating, whereas Alex will be staying behind to finish school, suggesting that they will be separated soon.
